Interior carpentry

Doors, wardrobes, skirting boards and woodwork adjustments.

Over time doors drop, rub against the floor or frame and stop closing properly. Adjusting or replacing the hinges, moving the latch plate or trimming a few millimetres off the door is almost always enough, without replacing the door.

We adjust and repair interior doors, wardrobe doors and sliding doors, replace handles and skirting boards and fit new doors when the old ones can’t be fixed.

Most common carpentry jobs

Door that sticks or won’t close

We check the hinges, frame and latch. We tighten or replace hinges, adjust the strike plate and, if needed, plane the edge of the door.

Sagging or squeaky hinges

We replace worn hinges, fill screw holes that no longer grip and oil hinges that creak.

Wardrobe and sliding doors

We adjust sagging wardrobe doors, replace concealed hinges and refit sliding doors that come off their track.

Handles, skirting boards and trims

We replace handles and latches, fit or replace skirting boards and finish frames and architraves.

Parquet and laminate

We sand and varnish worn parquet and lay vinyl or floating laminate floors.

New doors

When a door is badly damaged, we remove it and fit a new one to your frame or with a new frame.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the door rub after a new floor was laid?

The new floor is usually higher than the old one. Trimming the bottom of the door solves it, without replacing the door.

Can you adjust several doors in one visit?

Yes. Say in the form how many doors there are and what is wrong with each, so we can plan the visit and the quote.

Can a door swollen by damp be fixed?

Often yes: once the wood dries, the hinges are adjusted and the door is planed just enough to close. If the door is warped or the veneer has come away, it is better to replace it.

How do I get a quote for interior carpentry?
