Repairs
Windows and shutters
Windows, roller shutters, straps and enclosures.
A roller shutter that won’t go up, comes down crooked or gets stuck halfway is one of the most common faults at home. It can almost always be fixed without replacing the whole shutter: usually the strap, the winder, a slat or the axle inside the box has failed.
We check the shutter, explain which part has failed and replace only what is needed. If the shutter or window is no longer worth repairing, we tell you and quote for a new one, with double glazing or a built-in shutter.
Most common shutter repairs
Broken or frayed strap
The most frequent fault. We fit a new strap of the right width and check the winder so it doesn’t break again soon.
Winder that doesn’t wind
If the strap stays slack or won’t roll up, the winder spring is usually broken or worn out. We replace it with one of the right size and fit it back into its box.
Stuck or crooked shutter
A broken slat, a bent guide or a shutter that has come off its axle makes it come down crooked or jam. We open the box, rehang it and replace the damaged slats.
Broken or loose slats
We replace loose PVC or aluminium slats and the end stops, so the shutter closes properly and keeps the light out.
Awnings and windows
We also repair awnings, adjust windows that don’t close properly and remove old windows when it is time to replace them.

Frequently asked questions
Is it worth repairing a shutter or should I replace it?
In most cases it is worth repairing: the strap, winder and slats are replaced separately. We only recommend a new one if the box, the guides or many slats are worn out.
Do you repair motorised shutters?
Say so in the form, with a photo of the switch or remote and of the box. We review the case and tell you whether and how it can be repaired.
What should I do if the shutter has dropped inside the box?
Don’t force it by pulling the strap: you could break the winder or the slats. Leave it as it is, take a photo of the box if you can open it and send it to us through the form.
